1. Primary Function
The Tether Development Institute (TDI) functions as the central facility for manufacturing, induction, and conditioning of Tether candidates within the Anthara Polarity Program. Its primary objectives are as follows:
Early screening of genetically engineered candidate groups.
Optimization of neural and physical attributes to prepare candidates for induction.
Implementation of controlled polarity induction procedures.
Behavioral conditioning and operational training of surviving candidates to support their integration into societal and military roles.
TDI is the sole authorized institute for tether development and operates under the direct supervision of the Anthara Oversight Directorate.
2. Candidate Acquisition and Early Development
Candidates are engineered and gestated within TDI biocycles. Genetic modifications are implemented to enhance polar stability and physical endurance.
The group structure employs quartet sequencing, assigning four subjects per batch to optimize resource allocation and enable comparative adaptation analysis.
Early development includes:
Baseline cognitive and physical training is initiated at 1U.
Controlled emotional suppression conditioning is implemented, incorporating protocols for aggression response assessment.
Neural resonance is comprehensively monitored to detect early signs of ERD.
3. Induction Phase
Candidates undergo the Tether Induction Protocol (TIP) before reaching 20U to ensure optimal neural adaptability.
The preferred induction window is between 18U and 19U, as this period yields the highest probability of candidate stabilization.
Induction chambers employ molecular realignment technology to achieve permanent polarity alignment along the Nol spectrum.
Candidates either achieve polar tether lock or do not survive the induction process. Fatality rates remain high and unpredictable, with latent ERD markers continuing to account for total fatalities within that subset.
4. Post-Induction Conditioning and Training
Surviving candidates are transitioned to Tier-2 conditioning protocols:
Control Training: techniques for directing excess polarity into controlled discharge patterns.
Combat and Tactical Integration: extensive hand-to-hand, weapons, and field conditioning.
ERD Stabilization and Research: monitoring, testing, controlled conditioning, and behavioral adaptation of Resonant (ERD-positive) subjects.
Training duration averages 100U, depending on candidate stability. Continuous monitoring and reconditioning are conducted as required.
5. Integration
Upon successful completion of conditioning, Tethers and Leftover candidates are:
Assigned to military command structures, primarily for high-risk operations, deep-space reconnaissance and planetary security assignments.
Subjected to lifelong oversight under the Polarity Stability Act, including regular recalibration and psychological evaluations.
